Eight days at Sladefield Infant School
Year Two
Each of the four Year Two classes made masks, puppets and stories inspired by the film HOOK.
As many things in the film are ‘topsy turvy’,
we looked at things from different points of view:
running order
Jim introduced himself and the project with Sign Language games.
·
Each pupil made a Talking Parrot puppet
for how to make the Parrot puppet
·
What words would you expect to use to describe a parrot?
and
What words would be a surprise?
·
Pupils began a comic strip story featuring their unusual parrot:
·
Where do parrots usually meet pirates?
and
Where might be an unusual place for them to meet?
·
Each pupil began to make a ‘nasty’ Pirate Mask.
·
What nasty things might the Pirate train the Parrot to do?
·
Pupils finished their pirate masks.
·
Ah! Suppose the Parrot isn’t the Pirate’s Pet Parrot,
but the Pirate is the Parrot’s Pet Pirate...
What good things will the Parrot train the Pirate to do?
·
·
Year One
Each of the four Year One classes made crocodile puppets,
flying self-portraits and stories inspired by the film PETER PAN.
We let our imaginations take flight:
running order
Jim introduced himself and the project with Sign Language games.
·
Each pupil cut out and decorated a simple self-portrait figure
·
Pupils made bamboo wings for their self-portrait.
·
Good news! - In the story, you can fly.
Where would you like to fly to?
·
Pupils began a comic strip story showing where they would like to fly to.
·
Bad news! - In the story, the crocodiles will try and stop you getting there.
·
Pupils each made a snapping Crocodile puppet
(based on the Dingles Dragon)
·
Good news! - You are cleverer than the crocodiles.
How are you going to outwit them?
·
Good news! You escape the crocodiles and make it to your dream destination!
